A Volkswagen battery is a rechargeable battery that provides electrical energy to your auto.It’s also called an SLI battery (abbreviation of starting-lighting-ignition) and its primary purpose is to start the Volkswagen engine.
The alternator supplies electricity for the auto once the engine is running.
Usually, starting discharges less than three per cent of the battery capacity. SLI batteries are made to discharge a high outburst of current, measured in amperes, and then be immediately recharged.
They are not designed for deep discharge, plus the battery’s lifespan can be reduced by a total discharge.
